A Preview of Thursdays

First of all I am honored that Deb has asked me to do posts on my favorite subject. Family History!
Those that know me will tell you, that is my number one obsession, LOL. Digital Scrapbooking and graphics would come next.I have been involved with Family History for over 30 years. I was a bit tied up on Thursday so I am going to give you a preview today of what Family History Thursdays will be about.
Will I teach you what to do, No, there are enough of those sites out there. What we will do is just have a nice gab session on Family History and I will pass on some tips. Feel free to ask questions and I will answer if I can.
I actually started incorporating my digital scrapbooking into my family history books a few years back. I find it makes my books look so much better with some color added to all the documentation. I always try to journal on my pages so that when reading the books you have information on who, what, when, where, and possibly why the photo was taken.
I have photographs in boxes with no names, no dates. I wonder all the time, who are you, where do you fit in? Many times my husband will come into my office and he will ask, "Are you talking to dead people again?" LOL, I have to answer yes. He told me one of these days they might start answering me, I told him no way, because they know I have a ton of questions and would start asking. I could only hope they would start talking to me, whew, I might get some long awaited answers!
So, I love journaling on my pages, telling small stories, telling about when the photo was taken, who is in the photo. Sometimes I may not be able to tell it all, but I will tell all I can. So when doing old family photographs or even those that were taken yesterday, do some journaling on your pages, bring the photo to life with all of the info.
So, Do you do family history and do you incorporate your digital scrapbooking or paper scrapbooking into your history books?
How many have heard the new idea that everyone is connected by 6 people? Believe it or not, I think in family history this might actually work, lol. You never know who you are related to within 5 generations or closer. I would love everyone to create some 4 or 5 generation pedigree charts and fill what you can and join DIP Gallery and post them. I will have an album created for pedigree charts. You never know who you might find related to share your joys and upsets with.

Below is a page I have finished for one of my books, I do them in 12x12 format then resize and print at 8x8. This allows them to fit nicely in my family history top loading sheets and binders.
